Century 21

Century 21 is a BIG designer outlet store near "Ground zero". It is always packed with tourists and very busy. It is not a very tidy store and there is hardly space between all the rack of clothes. Finding your way to the shoe section is a nightmare..BUT I often have to check it out anyway. One of my last finds there was this dress from Marc by Marc Jacobs.

Nail polish

Favorite buys in New York are nail polishes from drug stores like Duane Reade. I really like the polish from Revlon as the brush is long and easy to use. Other favorites are Sally Hansen, Essie and O.P.I. Prices range from 7-10 USD, almost half of the Norwegian price.

Remember to get a manicure and/or pedicure in New York. I have been a few times to one on 72nd street on the Upper West side. Manicure and pedicure there is 25 USD total, plus tip, and I am often tripped into getting a foot massage as well, 10 minutes, 10 USD. A back and neck massage is also good after a long day of walking and shopping:-)

Laura Mercier make-up

I have come to really like Laura Mercier make-up. You find it at for instance Sephora (where I buy it) and department stores like Barneys, Bloomingdales and Saks. The price is much lower than at home and the products are often recommended in fashion magazines, like by Anne Cecilie Olavesen, make up artist working for ELLE Norway.

From left: Concealer duo (my favorite), concealer and mineral powder foundation with brush.

Ole Henriksen

I first read about Ole Henriksen´s products in a fashion magazine. They came highly recommended. Unfortunately the face cream (left) costs more than 500 NOK, so when I saw it at Sephora at 30 USD (now 35) I decided to give it a try. I have not looked back as they say, and stack up on the cream every time I am back in NY. I use the orange labeled "Herbal day cream" for spring/summer/autumn and the purple labeled "Skin insulator" for winter.

I bought the red "African tea Face cream" for my mum for Christmas and she was really happy with it. She just finished it, and has to wait for my next trip to get a new one, or two:-)

You can probably buy Ole Henriksen at several stores in NY, but I get my creams at Sephora.

Burt`s Bees.

I first discovered Burt`s Bees in Christina`s bathroom in Philadelphia. She had a shampoo and a conditioner with the most amazing smell. I found the same in NY and just had to buy it. I don´t think the shampoo is the best for my type of hair, as I have come to realize, but I will finish it, and the smell is worth keeping it for:-)

So, on my last visit to NY (February 2010) I just had to try some more Burt´s Bees products..

Everything pomegranate smells really good, so I got the Lip balm as well, and one with honey.
The foot creme is very rich and nice, but the best buy was the Milk & Honey body lotion. When I wear it people tell me that they smell coconut, so I guess the combination creates that scent.
I am so fond of it, and was very happy when I realized that www.lookfantastic.com sells it as mine is almost empty. I will be sure to order two..

You can probably buy Burt´s Bees many places in NY, but I got mine from Duane Reade, a pharmacy brand with stores all over town. I love Duane Reade, more about those stores later..

September 26.

For my high school reunion I wore a Marc by Marc Jacobs dress (from Barneys), Costume National shoes and a Marc by Marc Jacobs clutch.

My new Mulberry clutch.

I actually wanted to get the clutch in black, but they sold out the morning I arrived, so I went with this nice orange like color instead.

DKNY dresses

I saw this DKNY dress in NY last autumn and really wanted to buy it. It was on sale but they did not have my size at Macy`s or Bloomingdales, so I bought the brown one (under) instead. But when I returned to NY 2-3 weeks later I found the dress in my size at the DKNY flagship store on 59th street, so I ended up with 2 beautiful dresses instead!!

At Barneys

My new favorite dress is this Marc by Marc Jacobs from Barneys in New York. I was lucky to find it at 1/3 of the price they charge in Norway. I love a good sale..

My birthday dress

For my 30th birthday I wore this colorful dress from Marc by Marc Jacobs bought at Saks fifth avenue in NY.
